The Alliance Theatre (TAT) was established on November 15, 2000 by co-founders Elaine Wilson & Pat Kallman. TAT is a non-profit 501 (C) (3) Virginia corporation and is a member of the Arts Council of Fairfax County, as well as the Northern Virginia Theatre Alliance.
The Alliance Theatre is truly a theatre of the community. We believe in producing theatre of the highest standards to enrich the lives of our citizens. Cultural experiences draw people into meaningful social and educational events which create community cohesiveness. Participation in the arts creates lifelong cultural traditions. We believe that while the structural development that is taking place in Western Fairfax defines the shape of the landscape, the development of the arts defines the character of the people.
Our summer performances allow parents, grandparents and children to work creatively together on a professional production. Past performances include Oliver!, Music Man, Honk, Wizard of Oz, Cats, Beauty & the Beast and Willy Wonka.
The fall of 2009 marks our third year offering a “full” season of theatre to patrons. Through our business relationship with Mountain View High School we provide for a donation per show, and have produced such productions as And Then There Were None, A Christmas Carol, Goldilocks on Trial, Plaza Suite and A Capital Cabaret.
There is no business like show business and there is no cost like that of a theatrical production. While we have a very loyal patron following, the box office income rarely is enough to cover all the fees. For example, typical production costs include the licensing fees (as much as $11,000 and above), custodial, costume, prop, set, technical effect, lighting, sound and other production related fees.
TAT invites our patrons to help us expand existing programs and develop new horizons. The character of our citizens is enriched through participation in the arts. Our goal is to reach out to more and more people of all ages. Please join us in making TAT a theatre of and by the community.
